Energy is one of the most critical components of infrastructure development that is a major catalyst for the economic growth and well-being of a nation. A robust development in this sector is vital for a sustained growth of our economy. GVK, with its efficient power plants and backward integration is committed towards contributing its share to the country's energy bank.

After setting up India's first Independent Power Plant at Jegurupadu, Andhra Pradesh, GVK has expanded itself to a slew of CCPP - Combined Cycle Power Plant (gas/naphtha based), Thermal (coal based) and Hydro Power Projects across the country. GVK has over 2400 MW projects under generation and development.

 CCPP (GAS & NAPHTHA)

JEGURUPADU CCPP, PHASE 1(217 MW), EAST GODAVARI DISTRICT, ANDHRA PRADESH

India’s first independent power plant, the 217 MW Jegurupadu CCPP Phase 1 was commissioned in 1997. It displays farsighted design features that enhance operational efficiencies and minimize environmental impact.

As part of a buy-back arrangement, the AP Govt. has taken over the operations of the plant.

JEGURUPADU CCPP, PHASE 2(228 MW), EAST GODAVARI DISTRICT, ANDHRA PRADESH

The 228 MW CCPP Phase 2 commenced operations in 2009 and has a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with APDISCOMs & TSDISCOMs.

GAUTAMI CCPP (469 MW), EAST GODAVARI DISTRICT ANDHRA PRADESH

To anchor growth in the energy sector, GVK has set up another 469 MW dual fuel power project in Peddapuram, Andhra Pradesh. It has a PPA with the APDISCOM for fifteen years and a Ground Support Agreement with GAIL for the life term of the PPA. A green belt has been developed in 99 acres and over one lakh trees have been planted in the vicinity of the plant as part of the environmental sustainability initiatives.


THERMAL (COAL BASED)

GOINDWAL SAHIBTHERMAL POWER PROJECT(540 MW), TARN TARAN DISTRICT, PUNJAB

This is a 540 MW (2X270 MW) thermal power plant located near Goindwal Sahib village, District Tarn Taran in the state of Punjab. This project has a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with PSPCL for 25 years. After the successful commissioning of Unit1 on 1 April, 2016, the Unit 2 was commissioned on 14 April, 2016. This major development marked the commissioning of the plant and stands as a testimony of the relentless efforts by the entire team associated with Goindwal Sahib TPP.


HYDRO

SHRINAGAR HYDRO ELECTRIC PROJECT (330 MW), UTTARAKHAND

GVK has developed a 330 MW hydro project on the river Alaknanda in Tehri/ Pauri Garhwal District of Uttarakhand. It has a 90 m high (from deepest foundation level) dam. A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) has been signed with the state of Uttar Pradesh and 12% output will be given free to the state of Uttarakhand.

RATLE HYDRO ELECTRIC PROJECT (850MW), JAMMU & KASHMIR

The Ratle Hydro Electric project located on river Chenab in the state of Jammu & Kashmir is planned to be developed as a run-of-the river scheme. This is the first Hydro Power Project in the country awarded on tariff based International Competitive Bidding (ICB) process for development of the project on BOOT basis for a period of 35 years. It has an underground power house having four units of 205 MW each and in addition a 30 MW plant, totalling an installed capacity of 850 MW. The Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) has been executed between Power Development Department, Go J&K and GVK Ratle Hydro Electric Project Pvt. Ltd.

The Hon'ble PM Dr. Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Smt. Sonia Gandhi laid the Foundation Stone for the Ratle HEP at Kishtwar, J&K. The development of the project will lead to the overall economic and social development of the community as well.
